About
SEE Australia
Surgical
Eye Expeditions (S.E.E.) International is a non-profit humanitarian
organization founded in 1974 to recruit, coordinate and deploy volunteer
ophthalmologists, nurses and technicians to perform free, sight-restoring
surgery throughout the developing world.
In
addition to providing sight-restoring surgery to indigent patients,
S.E.E. also coordinates programs designed to foster long-term benefit
to developing countries.
Through
symposia, roundtable discussions, and skills exchange clinics, S.E.E.
updates the surgical skills of ophthalmologists throughout the world,
enhancing their capacity to take care of their own underprivileged
blind.
In
2001, following the 9/11 acts of terrorism, it was decided to expand
the administration of SEE to a world hub at Sydney, Australia. This
would facilitate the centralisation of equipment and stock, and
allow the generosity and knowledge of Australia to contribute to
our Mission.
